Dogs and Vaccinations

I just received a postcard from my vet informing me that it is time to update my dogs vaccinations. Our family follows many alternative methods when it comes to our health and so far so good, but when it comes to my dog I’ve had to take a step back to do some reevaluation.  Fortunately I found this article at k9instinct.com.

The article discusses three of the most essential vaccines that are necessary or required for your dog. Therefore, discouraging over vaccinating your dog.

Your dog must also be vaccinated against the rabies virus – not only is the rabies vaccine required by law but this disease is fatal and painful and can be very easily transferred between human and animal. That means that over the course of your pet’s life, they should only be vaccinated for 3 things: Distemper, Parvovirus and Rabies. These are the three most deadly diseases that can kill your pet should he or she contract either one. Additional vaccines should be given in special circumstances.

I encourage you to check out the article and thoroughly read the valued information. This is a sensitive subject matter and the protocol for one may not necessarily apply for all. However, the more informed we are the better we can asses and do right by our beloved dogs.
